MICRO GAS TURBINE

Samad Power began development of revolutionary microturbines and the internal technologies for local generation of heat and electricity in 2010. The company created its micro gas turbine engines, air bearing, electronic control modules and advanced power electronics, to enable its energy systems to deliver reliable on-site electricity and heat. Thanks to flexi-fuel capacity of gas turbine technology, a Hydrogen burning version has been designed out. At Samad Power we believe that gas turbines with hydrogen fuel are the solutions for net zero carbon ecosystem.

HYBRID PROPULSION

Turbogenerators which enable increased range versus an all-electric propulsion system.

In early 2019, Samad Power made a strategic pivoting to expand its development activities and leverage its core knowledge to become a propulsion technology vendor to support the high value emerging market of hybrid electric aircraft.

HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM IS THE SOLUTION!

Electric aircraft are at the forefront of aviation technology, but the energy capability of existing batteries is not developed yet enough to support different aircraft designs. So, in addition to battery, we integrate power generator that can supply the required power of the aircraft.

DEVELOPING FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES

At Samad Power, we developed customised electric propulsion system for aircrafts to meet our customer needs. The technology was scalable from the beginning and soon found its way to bigger scale with more sophisticated design. The future plan is to design and build HEPS with integrated direct drive turbogenerator (eliminated gearbox) for commercial aircraft with 4 to 6 passengers to benefit all of us by a greener aviation.

CRACKING COMPLEX ISSUES

Samad Power has built exceptionally strong R&D capabilities in the field of micro gas turbine including; scientific and technical expertise, in-house fast prototyping of complex components, and highly instrumented test facility. These have allowed the company to undertake complex and technically challenging projects from design and construction to handover.

MICROTURBINE SOLAR POWER SYSTEM

Our Micro Gas Turbine technology is integrated with a multi-fuel combustor, solar parabolic dish and receiver, and thermal energy storage. It is a micro combined heat and power system generating 3.44 kW of power and delivering 25 kW of heat simultaneously.
This system is capable of capturing and utilising renewable solar heat to reduce CO2 emissions, dependency on fossil fuels and operation cost, whilst benefitting from a multi-fuel combustion chamber (LNG, LPG, Diesel, Biogas) to cover over-night operation and the renewable intermittency and shortfalls, as well as making it adaptable in various locations. It will reduce the need for back-up diesel generators and consequently improve the air quality in South Africa because of reduced NOx emissions.

MICROTURBINE BAKERY BURNER

Build on the proven technology developed by Samad Power, Turbo Green Burner has been developed to produce flameless heat for use in bakeries while also generating electricity, which can be used within the bakery system or exported back to the electricity grid. This is a unique proposition which addresses the energy trilemma by providing low cost power generation, better control over security of supply and reducing emissions whilst making power available in remote locations.

HYDROGEN MICRO CHP

Renewably sourced Hydrogen has great potential for future energy supply. A range of scenarios are examined by the UK government for decarbonising heating in buildings. Consequently, Samad Power has focused on use of Hydrogen in its systems as an alternative zero-carbon fuel and was successfully awarded a Hy4Heat contract (tender) by BEIS in 2019 for development and deployment of a Hydrogen burning version of its micro CHP boiler.
Unlike conventional boilers, the unit is working based on non-premixed combustion approach with lower risk of fire flash back. The fuel and the air will only mix once they are inside the closed combustion chamber, hence there will be no possibility of the leakage of combustible air-fuel mixture in the flammability range outside the burning chamber.

TWINGEN BOILER

A first of its kind Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Boiler, running on both Natural Gas and Hydrogen, based on Samad’s MGT2 micro gas turbine technology with 2kW electrical and 30kW thermal output. TwinGen is suitable for large domestic and small commercial premises such as health centres, care homes, fitness centres and schools.

System Features
• Highly reliable
• Minimal maintenance
• Wall-hung packaging
• Coaxial air / flue piping
• Integrated Grid-Tie Inverter
• Proven oil-lubricated bearing
• Simple display and user interface
• Heat driven automatic control system
